Hi, I'm Jen
I'm a postpartum doula in the greater Charleston, South Carolina area.
Growing, birthing, and caring for a baby is a transformative and vulnerable season of life. As humans, we are meant to be taken care of by a village of mothers, aunts, grandmothers, and friends during the first 40 days after birth. You deserve to be surrounded by a community to support and care for you!
Let me take care of you while you rest, recover, and bond with your baby.
We will have one pre-birth session in your home (1.5 to 2 hours) so that we can get to know each other and discuss how to make a good postpartum plan.
After birth, each family has different needs that may change from day-to-day. When I arrive, we will check in to see how the last 24 hours have gone and make a plan for what you need. Postpartum sessions are roughly 4 hours long and may include:
-
meals and herbal infusions prepped
(cost of ingredients not included) -
feeding support
-
birth processing
-
basic household tasks
-
baby care support
-
getting to take a nap or a bath!
Suggested postpartum sessions: 2-3 sessions a week for 4-6 weeks.
Always included:
a complimentary batch of my vegan, gluten-free, soy free lactation cookies!
How would it feel to have warm bone broth, lactation-supporting teas, homemade snacks and other nourishing foods made with love and delivered to your hospital room?
The physical intensity of carrying a baby is the same as running a 40-week marathon. Your body needs to be refueled to repair birth injuries, replenish lost blood and/or heal from a major surgery. Proper nourishment also supports brain development and milk production. Your first meals after birth matter!
Hospital food does not always satisfy what your body needs during this time, and it's only available certain times of day. What do you do when you're hungry in the middle of the night? That's where I come in! Once you go into labor, I will get to work cooking fresh, homemade food for you. Once it's ready (and you've had the baby!), I will come to you and deliver a cooler full of food ready to eat, with all supplies included. Your partner or helper can warm the food in small warming crockpots whenever you need to eat!
(Take note: If you want additional support, you can also hire me for a 4 hour day session at the hospital!)

I wish I could go back in time and hand this book to myself when I was pregnant with my first! It would have been a game changer in how I prepared and handled my postpartum time.
This is both a transformative and beautiful book for preparing for the postpartum period - and there are really good recipes. I use this as a reference for many of the postpartum recipes I make!
A good manual to have on hand - short and to the point.
